At Smiles of Orange, our mission is to provide quality dentistry in a friendly and caring environment. We give each and every Orange County patient special care and attention, providing the same treatment for you that we do for our own family members. Yes, we provide outstanding clinical dentistry using the latest technology for lasting results, but what sets our practice apart from the rest is our personable approach to dentistry. You will always feel welcomed, heard, and respected in our care, and you can rest assured we only recommend solutions we would want for ourselves or our loved ones.
Dr. Maryam Jackson graduated from the NYU College of Dentistry as an Oral Medicine Honors Student and graduated from the University of California Irvine on the Dean’s Honor Roll.
Dr. Jackson likes to take an integrative approach to dentistry and not only solve her patients’ symptoms, but also seek the reason behind the problem. She enjoys treating and educating adults and children alike in their oral health. She has volunteered at elementary schools doing dental exams and providing preventative care. Dr. Jackson has also taken Mission trips to Mexico through her church to provide dental care to those who do not have access to it.
Besides dentistry, Dr. Jackson enjoys going to the beach, taking cooking classes and traveling.
I really enjoy being part of a caring team that works so well together in helping patients achieve optimum oral health! It is very gratifying to see how a beautiful, healthy smile can really boost a patient’s self-esteem. As Dr. Jackson’s Office Manager, I understand how important it is to always strive to listen and address our patients’ needs, concerns, expectations, and responsibilities when guiding them in planning their treatment.
I really value the time I have with my family when not working, especially time to just play with my grandchildren! I also love to bake, read, volunteer in local schools, and practice Pilates.
Hailing from Boston, Massachusetts, I have over 30 years of family dentistry experience as a Registered Dental Hygienist. I truly love getting to know my patients; it’s the best part of my job! Developing a relationship and a genuine comfort level allows me the opportunity to help others with their individual dental care needs.
In my free time, I enjoy activities with my family (husband Gregg, son Cam, and daughter Paige), hiking, Zumba, and reading. I am also a “wicked big” New England sports fan!
Even in my fast-paced job as a Registered Dental Assistant, I enjoy the opportunities I have in getting to spend time with our patients and getting to know more about them. I love my role in helping them to improve their smile by assisting Dr. Jackson in the thorough evaluation of each patient’s needs and goals. I understand how important it is to really listen to the patient’s concerns and do my best to educate, explain, and provide a clean and comforting environment for them.
In my free time, I really like spending time outdoors at the beach or riding my bike and sharing time with family and friends.
Even after 22 years as a Dental Hygienist, it is still so personally satisfying to help my patients improve their oral hygiene, which can play such an important role in their overall health. Many patients are unaware of the connection between the health of the oral cavity and health risks such as, heart disease, diabetes, cancer, and diet, among others. Learning about these issues myself, and educating my patients, is still so rewarding for me! One of the most important contributions I can make to a patient’s dental experience at Dr. Jackson’s is to help them reduce any fears they may have about dentistry by being caring, sensitive to their needs, listening, and by sharing my knowledge about maintaining their health.
When I’m not educating my patients about the virtues of flossing…ha, ha…I enjoy biking, water sports, working out with my son at the gym, watching football, reading, and motorcycling. I am always up for trying new activities!
I grew up in Bonnie, Scotland where all my family still lives and for the last fifteen years, I worked as a dental hygienist in the beautiful Isle of Man (just off the coast of England, which is famous for its motorcycle racing and cats with no tails!!)I graduated from Glasgow Dental Hospital with a diploma in dental hygiene and then graduated from UCLan (University of Central Lancashire ) with a BSc with honors in Dental Studies.
Now that I’m in the states, I feel very privileged to work alongside such an amazing, dedicated team who work endlessly to ensure our patients are given the best possible care and education.
I love meeting new people and helping them improve their oral habits to achieve a happy, beautiful smile. A healthy mouth Is such an integral part of your overall well-being and it is so rewarding to see a patient take on advice and come back to show you the marked difference in their gums, teeth, and attitude to the dentist, they can’t wait for their next visit!!
On a personal note, I love spending time with my family and friends. I love staying active and have taken part in charity events including the parish walk, Isle of Man (85 miles in 24 hours) and trekking the tallest mountain in Northern Africa (Atlas mountains). I also love the adrenaline rush of a skydive.
I am so grateful to be here in California and have so much to explore when I’m not chilling on the beautiful beaches.
